Healthy duct work is essential to the performance of your HVAC system. In Southeast Texas, our homes are built with Flex Duct. Each piece of duct is strategically calculated and designed to move the air throughout your home from the AC system to the rooms.
Flexible duct work is a sealed at the supply plenum and the supply boxes in each room. It should be hung precisely to allow air to flow directly to each room and should not have any sharp bends or turns causing restrictions. Duct should not be touching or laying on top of each other as this will cause condensation and water damage to your attic and insulation.
The supply plenum should be sealed at the unit and to each duct and collar. Without proper sealing, outside air and condensation can enter the plenum.
Duct design is key to balancing the air throughout your home. If you are experiencing rooms being significantly hotter than others, there may be a problem with your duct work. Rooms that are farther away from the plenum usually experience more issues that rooms closest to your system.

Ensuring your duct work is installed and maintained properly is the key to ensuring the very best air flow and quality of air throughout your home, as well as the efficiency of your system.
Having your ducts inspected yearly to ensure they are hung properly, sealed, free of tears and damage is very important. Critters can get into our attics and tear up duct work. Humans getting into the attic to store boxes, decorations, seasonal items, can damage duct work or cause it to be moved or rip.
Have your plenum replaced if organic growth or mildew is found to ensure the integrity of your supply duct work. This service is included at no additional cost with our Annual Maintenance Memberships.
Clean your supply vents occassionally. Condensation and airborn dust and debris can cause spots and stains on your supply grills over time. Ensure your supply vents are caulked and sealed
Change your filters regularly to keep dust and debris out of your system.
Media filters insalled inside the unit should be changed every 6 months. (DO NOT PUT FILTERS IN THE GRILLES IF YOU HAVE A MEDIA CABINET FILTER!)
Grille filters should be changed every 30-60 days depending on the quality.
Have a UV Light like Air Scrubber added to your system. This helps to clean, sanitize and prevent growth, bacteria, allergens and pollutants from forming and living inside your duct work and plenums.
We do not offer this service, nor do we recommend it. Flexible duct is sealed at your plenum and supply grills, preventing outside air, condensation and debris from entering the runs.
Flex duct CAN be damaged by agressivce cleaning tools, and pressure causing tears, collapsed sections and damaged joints, thus causing need for replacement. Cleaning flexible duct work can cause the spread of bacteria and debris further into each run, disconnection of the run, and air leaks.
Metal duct work, very uncommon in Southeast Texas can be cleaned without issue. Metal ducts are usually found in commerical buildings and very old homes.
There should be no need to clean your flexible duct work. If your ducts have separated, torn or become damaged they can allow contamination, at which point they would need to be replaced.
Ensure your duct work and indoor. air quality is healthy and efficient to protect your home and family.

Cleaning a dryer vent is crucial to prevent fires, as lint buildup is highly flammable. It also increases the dryer's efficiency, which means clothes dry faster, saving energy and lowering utility bills. Additionally, it helps to extend the life of your dryer, as it prevents the machine from overheating and working harder, and it improves indoor air quality by reducing mold and mildew growth.

Attic Tents function as both an effective radiant barrier and a seal against air leakage into your home. This causes strain to your HVAC system and can produce inaccurate readings on your thermostat.

Attic insulation is important because it lowers energy bills by keeping warm air in during the winter and hot air out during the summer, improves home comfort, and protects the home's structure from moisture damage, mold, and premature roof deterioration. It also extends the lifespan of your HVAC system and can increase your home's value.
